The MATHCOUNTS competition is a once-a-year and very prestigious math competition for middle school students. At first, each school will select up to 8 students for the Chapter (regional, among several cities) level competition. After the Chapter competition, only around 100 students will be selected and qualified for the state level competition. Then, only four students will be representing each state for the National level competition.
An IQ Abacus student, Timothy Horng, competed with 104 other top students who had made it to the state level from around Arizona at the MATHCOUNTS State competition in Tucson on Saturday, March 13, 2010. He was called in for the final top 10 for the selection of the state team of 4. He eventually placed 10th. We are very happy and proud of his accomplishment! |
